This release (#11) and part of the previous release (#10) contain an error in the keyword element, PLANET_DAY_NUMBER, whereby products after sol 999 have an incorrect value that contains only the last three digits of the sol. (e.g., sol 1043 mosaics have PLANET_DAY_NUMBER values of '043'). A correction will be made and the labels of the affected files will be re-delivered at a future time. RELEASE NUMBER: 10 RELEASE DATE: 2015-12-04 DATA COVERAGE: 2012-09-14 to 2015-08-02 (Sols 38-938) and (Sols 939-1062) PRODUCT TYPES RELEASED FOR THIS ARCHIVE: MOSAIC RDR PRODUCT TYPES UPDATED FOR THIS ARCHIVE: None This release includes new products from Sols 939 through 1062. In addition, newly generated mosaics from Sols 38 - 938 are included in this release. RELEASE NUMBER: 8 RELEASE DATE: 2015-03-16 DATA COVERAGE: 2013-11-10 to 2014-11-10 (Sols 569-804) PRODUCT TYPES RELEASED FOR THIS ARCHIVE: MOSAIC RDR PRODUCT TYPES UPDATED FOR THIS ARCHIVE: None This release includes new products from Sols 708 through 804. In addition, newly generated mosaics from Sols 569 - 699 are included in this release. 1. In the DATA/SOL00262 directory, three mosaics are incorrectly named. The second character of the filename is 'N' when it should be '_'. This affects the associated .LBL and .LIS files, the INDEX.TAB, and the PRODUCT_ID in the VICAR, attached ODL-style and detached PDS labels. Affected mosaics are: NNL000_0262_ILT006CYL_S_0000_UNCORM2.IMG NNL000_0262_ILT006VRT_S_0000_UNCORM2.IMG NNL000_0262_ILT006POL_S_0000_UNCORM2.IMG 2. Three anaglyph mosaics have incorrect PRODUCT_ID values in the labels. For each of the affected files, the third character of the PRODUCT_ID should be "A" instead of "L". This issue affects the VICAR label, attached ODL-style label and the detached PDS3 label. Affected mosaics are: DATA/SOL00569/N_A000_0569_EDR030CYPTSB0000_DRIVEM1.IMG DATA/SOL00572/N_A000_0572_EDR030CYPTSB0484_DRIVEM1.IMG DATA/SOL00719/N_A000_0719_EDR040CYPTSB1378_DRIVEM1.IMG RELEASE NUMBER: 7 RELEASE DATE: 2014-12-05 DATA COVERAGE: 2014-03-28 to 2014-08-03 (Sols 584-707) PRODUCT TYPES RELEASED FOR THIS ARCHIVE: MOSAIC RDR PRODUCT TYPES UPDATED FOR THIS ARCHIVE: None This release includes no new errata. RELEASE NUMBER: 6 RELEASE DATE: 2014-08-01 DATA COVERAGE: 2013-08-11 to 2014-03-28 (Sols 360-583) PRODUCT TYPES RELEASED FOR THIS ARCHIVE: MOSAIC RDR PRODUCT TYPES UPDATED FOR THIS ARCHIVE: MOSAIC RDR This release includes no new errata. All of the mosaics for Sols 360 - 449 were reprocessed for this release in order to: - improve image quality (changing some previously released mosaics from byte to halfword or float) - correct label content for the PRODUCT_ID - organize image label content in a more logical, human readable format RELEASE NUMBER: 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 RELEASE DATE: 2014-03-17 DATA COVERAGE: 2012-08-06 to 2013-11-10 (Sols 0-449) PRODUCT TYPES RELEASED FOR THIS ARCHIVE: MOSAIC RDR PRODUCT TYPES UPDATED FOR THIS ARCHIVE: None 1. In some ECAM PDS labels, the MSL:LOCAL_ keywords have a colon separating the seconds and milliseconds value. According to the Camera SIS, this should be a decimal point. 2. The millisecond value of the SCLK was incorrectly computed for the MSL:LOCAL_MEAN_SOLAR_TIME and MSL:TELEMETRY_SOURCE_SCLK_START keywords. Specifically, only 2 digits of the millisecond value were extracted from the source telemetry data product. This 2-digit value was then incorrectly 0 padded with a zero just to the right of the decimal place. Therefore, there is a 0 value in the tenths position of the Fine portion of the SCLK. This bug affects one mosaic on Sol 16. 3. When it appears, the SOLAR_AZIMUTH keyword in the SITE_DERIVED_GEOMETRY_PARMS group is backwards compared to other azimuth values in the label, progression counter-clockwise rather than clockwise. Thus a +90 degree value for this keyword points west instead of east. This bug affects one mosaic on Sol 16. 4. The PRODUCT_ID in the detached PDS3 label doesn't always match the FILE_NAME less the extension. The PRODUCT_ID provided in the INDEX.TAB is correct. ******** SECTION B ******** This section is provided for general notes concerning the archive as a whole. 1. The mosaics included on this volume were generated specifically to support operations, at the request of science and operations team members. Unlike the nominal EDR and single-frame RDR products, the mosaics were NOT reprocessed for the archive using the latest software. It is not practical to do so because each mosaic is custom and requires significant effort to generate. This means that the labels reflect the state of the software and data at the time the operations products were created. In effect, they may have more errata items than other archive products. The errata generally do not affect the mosaic processing, so the associated archive EDRs or single-frame RDRs can be used to find proper values for any questionable label items. 2. PDS labels are not present for the parameter, inverse lookup and camera model files in the CALIB directory. Because these files are used with operational software in their current form, PDS labels are not expected before the end of mission. 3. The MSL:POINTING_CORRECTION_FILE_NAME keywords are missing from the mosaic PDS labels. When the correction file is available in the archive, it has the same name as the mosaic image file, with ".NAV" replacing ".IMG" for the file suffix. 4. The following keywords are missing from the IMAGE OBJECT in the detached PDS labels. FIRST_LINE FIRST_LINE_SAMPLE INVALID_CONSTANT MISSING_CONSTANT SAMPLE_BIT_MASK 5. In some mosaic labels, the SOURCE_PRODUCT_ID keyword references EDR files with version numbers higher than one. The archive only contains version one ECAM EDRs. 6. The PRODUCT_VERSION_ID keyword mentioned in the Camera SIS is not present in the mosaic PDS labels for releases 1 - 7. It was added to the Camera SIS after these releases were processed by the data provider. 7. Release #11 and part of Release #10 contain an error in the keyword element, PLANET_DAY_NUMBER, whereby products after sol 999 have an incorrect value that contains only the last three digits of the sol. (e.g., sol 1043 mosaics have PLANET_DAY_NUMBER values of '043'). A correction will be made and the labels of the affected files will be re-delivered. 8. The flat field files listed below and delivered in the CALIB directory of this volume have not been rotated from the detector readout frame to match the DETECTOR_TO_IMAGE rotation applied to flight images. These flat field files were applied without rotation to the radiometrically corrected products on this volume. This directly affects the RAD/RAS products and mosaics. This indirectly affects RDR products derived from the RAD/RAS (including stereo products). Additionally, the FLAT_FIELD_FILE_NAME and FLAT_FIELD_FILE_DESC keywords are absent from the product labels. Navcam Left A-Side: MSL_FLAT_SN_0216.IMG and MSL_FLAT_SN_0216_V01.IMG Navcam Right A-Side: MSL_FLAT_SN_0206.IMG and MSL_FLAT_SN_0206_V01.IMG Navcam Left B-Side: MSL_FLAT_SN_0215.IMG and MSL_FLAT_SN_0215_V01.IMG Navcam Right B-Side: MSL_FLAT_SN_0218.IMG and MSL_FLAT_SN_0218_V01.IMG To be consistent with the flight EDR images, the flat fields need to be rotated prior to being applied. The flat fields for the A-side Navcam and the B-side right eye Navcam should be rotated 90 degrees clockwise. The B-side left Navcam flat field should be rotated 90 degrees counter-clockwise. Users may remove the effects of the non-rotated flat fields on the RAD/RAS products by multiplying those products by the non-rotated V01 flat fields for the associated camera serial number currently available in the CALIB directory. To get the originally intended product, users can then divide by a flat field rotated as specified above. Preliminary assessment shows that stereo data derived from the unrotated flat fields is within expected error bounds. Stereo coverage and quality may improve with corrected flat fields. These issues will be addressed in a future release of the Navcam RDR and mosaic products.
