Fixed-length record text files include files such as AAREADME.TXT, documentation files with extension .TXT, label files with extension .LBL, catalog files with extension .CAT, and source code files. The interface to CDROMs under your current version of VMS may have problems accessing these files. To facilitate VAX/VMS access to the CDROM, a command file called CDCOPY.COM was developed. It is located in the VAX subdirectory of the SOFTWARE directory. Copy the CDCOPY.COM command file from the CDROM with the standard DCL $COPY command ($COPY dev:[dir]CDCOPY.COM *). Then follow the instructions in the command file to copy other files to magnetic disk. Once the command file is copied, use CDCOPY to copy the AAREADME.TXT file from the CDROM root directory with the following DCL commands: $@CDCOPY dev:[000000]AAREADME.TXT * !dev= device name of CDROM drive $PRINT AAREADME.TXT !or $EDIT/READ AAREADME.TXT for more information. The AAREADME.TXT file contains additional information about the structure and contents of the CDROM.
